He assumed this role in June, 2019 after a long and an illustrious career spanning over 20 years in the education field. In August 2012 he was promoted to serve as the Programme Coordinator for Education at the Lesotho National Commission for UNESCO (UNESCOM). In this portfolio, the incumbent coordinated all the education programmes including Participating Programmes’ (PP’s) projects funded by UNESCO. In carrying out this mandate, he liaised with the varying relevant government ministries, educational institutions, non-governmental organisations and experts in the field of education. In April, 2013, MOET gave him a new assignment to serve as the Director of the NCDC with a clear and challenging mandate of ensuring the implementation of the Curriculum and Assessment Policy of 2009 at the basic and secondary education levels. This mandate entailed overseeing the planning, designing, developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the curriculum and assessment materials for both the basic and secondary education levels. Upon the completion of this mandate, with the consolidation of its gains left, MOET saw it fit to laterally transfer him to take over the position of the Secretary General at UNESCOM after the departure of the substantive holder on retirement basis. In this role he is entrusted with the management and administrative assignment of all UNESCOM programmes in line with the National Commissions mandates within the five fields of UNESCO’s competences which are: Education; Natural Sciences; Culture, Social Sciences and Humanities; and Communication and Information. Key among his mandates as a new Secretary General include the development of the new constitution of the commission and the UNESCOM Strategic Plan for 2020- 2024. .

She previously worked at Morija Museum and Archives where she was Collections Management and Exhibitions Officer. Before that, she was a teacher at Machabeng International College. As a Secretary General, she is entrusted with the management and administrative assignment of all UNESCO programmes in line with the National Commissions mandates within the five fields of UNESCO’s competences which are Education, Natural Sciences, Culture, Social Sciences and Humanities and Communication and Information. Her duties in this position range from providing strategic direction to contributing to the ratification and overseeing of the implementation of international conventions and policies. She is liaising with the national stakeholders, the UNESCO, the permanent delegate and other UN agencies. Additionally, she represents the Lesotho National Commission for UNESCO nationally and internationally, manages the given resources to meet the UNESCO mandate as well as reports to relevant authorities. As a Programme Coordinator for Culture, she coordinates the implementation of activities to UNESCO Culture programme in Lesotho, advises on possible areas of Lesotho/UNESCO Cooperation, disseminates information on the Culture Programme, formulates, implements, and evaluates Culture related Programmes.

His mandate is chiefly to coordinate the implementation of activities related to UNESCO Education Programme in Lesotho, advise on possible areas of Lesotho/UNESCO cooperation, disseminate information on the Education Programme and formulate, implement and evaluate Education Programmes. He’s been an educator at both senior secondary and tertiary levels for over a decade. He contributed in the reform of the Lesotho basic education curriculum and assessment under the auspices of the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) and Examinations Council of Lesotho (ECOL) respectively. He’s had a short spell at the Lesotho Institute of Public Administration and Managenent (LIPAM) where he worked as a Senior Curriculum Developer. In his tenure, he advised on a number of initiatives which among others included curriculum reform for both Public Administration and Human Resources Management Programmes to meet the current global demands. He further participated in the development of the Lesotho Qualification Framework (LQF) under the auspices of the Council on Higher Education (CHE).

Among the duties he performs are to provide administrative support to the organization, collect and deliver mails, distribute and collect files to and from action offices within the Ministry of Education and Training and beyond, liaise between National Commission and the Ministry of Education and Training in general and with other government departments and ministries and other relevant stakeholders. He’s also responsible to do general care-taking and maintenance of cleanliness of office surroundings.

His duties range from driving the department’s staff on official business, making correct records in the logbook before and at the end of every trip, monitoring and reporting on the status of registration and insurance of the department’s vehicle, ensuring the safety of the department’s vehicle, checking, tidying and maintaining the department’s vehicle. He’s also responsible for the safety of the department’s vehicle and its equivalent.

She’s responsible for carrying out duties ranging from, daily cleaning of all offices, polishing and dusting furniture and equipment, emptying dustbins in offices daily, cleaning library and halls, cleaning and keeping clean all toilets at all times daily, cleaning and maintaining office surroundings clean at all times, preparing and ensuring that the hall is clean prior to meetings, making tea for special guests of the organization, as well as assisting other officers as work may require.

His duties range from ensuring a proper keeping of the books of accounts, administering all income and expenditure transactions and maintaining appropriate financial records. He’s further entrusted to take part in policy formulation, budgeting, resource allocation and the overall management of the organisation. Additionally, he’s tasked to identify financial management performance indicators and establish efficient reporting systems providing management with timely financial management and accounting information. He’s also responsible to make follow up vouchers originating from National Commission to UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, assist Programme Coordinators when surrendering imprest taken either from recurrent budget or UNESCO funds, assist Secretary-General with procurement and inventory control for the National Commission. Furthermore, he’s responsible to advise Programme Coordinators and the Secretary-General on all financial operations. He’s a graduate from Fort Hare University in RSA with a Bachelor of Commerce in Management and Economics and a Certificate in Pastel Accounting respectively.

Her duties include typing of minutes and other correspondence as well as distribution of documents, office administration, preparation of meetings, supervision of typists under her jurisdiction. She’s further responsible for arranging official trips and visits. She organizes official meetings, conferences and official entertainment. She’s again responsible for ensuring entire security for offices and the institution in general.

She works at the library since July 2022 and her duties range from classification of books to other library duties.

As a clerical assistant, her duties range from circulating and dispatching of mail to correspondence and operating filing systems.

Her responsibilities range from coordination of the implementation of activities to UNESCO Science programme in Lesotho. She’s further tasked to advise on possible areas of Lesotho/UNESCO cooperation and to disseminate information on the Science Programme as well as formulation, implementation and evaluation of Science Programme. Since joining the Lesotho National Commission for UNESCO, she was able to facilitate formation of a forum of Mathematics and Science Educators and implemented various UNESCO - funded Science Education Projects. Under her supervision, Lesotho started taking part in Africa Code Week (ACW) where schools engage actively in ICT projects with the aim of empowering women and girls in Science Initiatives through various coding workshops countrywide.

He’s responsible for coordination of the implementation of activities to UNESCO Communication and Information programme in Lesotho and advising on possible areas of Lesotho/UNESCO Cooperation. Other tasks include dissemination of information on the Communication and Information Programme while formulating, implementing and evaluating Communication and Information Programme under his headship. Since joining the Lesotho National Commission for UNESCO, he hit the ground running as he joined the NatCom during the commemoration of the World Press Freedom Day on 3rd May 2010. It is this quest for access to information that prompted him to be so instrumental in strengthening the capacities of both national and institutional libraries in the country. Another highlight of his career has been the coordination of the establishment of the first two model community radio stations in Lesotho (Mafeteng Community Radio and Moeling Community Radio in the Mafeteng and Botha-Bothe districts respectively). He has also successfully managed bilateral projects with the Republic of South Korea and Germany through the Africa-Bridge Programme and the Student Training for Entrepreneurial Promotion (STEP)- thus exposing him to entrepreneurship which he practices so well outside his formal work environment at the NatCom.
